Shortbread biscuits consist of a fixed ratio of 300 grams of flour, 200 grams of butter and 100 grams of sugar (3:2:1). You can make variations on this by, for example:
- Replacing part of the flour with finely ground nuts, seeds or oatmeal
- Choosing specific type of sugar or part vanilla sugar
- Adding spices and flavourings, such as cinnamon or an essence.
Ingredients
- 300 grams of dry ingredients, including at least 200 grams of flour
- 200 grams of vegetable butter
- 100 grams of sugar
- Pinch of salt
Recipe
- Mix all the dry ingredients
- Cut the butter into pieces
- Knead together with the dry ingredients until it forms a solid dough
- Let rest for at least 15 minutes
- Form into cookies and bake at 160 degrees oC, 12-15 minutes
